March 29 we finally departed from Amsterdam Schiphol, ready for our adventure in Yucatan. After a small scare KLM ground staff had lost our cat, we could eventually depart with ease as they had located her just 2 minute before departure. Touching ground in Merida with sleepy minds, that feeling would soon subside as we reached out new home with a lush garden filled with Bougainvilles and palm trees.
In my home town dialect people will ask you ‘have you earthed yet’ meaning have you connected to the place you have relocated to yet? Some even believe that spending time outside barefoot will rid you of your jetlag quicker, and literally have you set roots to your new spot sooner.
I don’t know if it’s that; the walking outdoors in the garden all day long or the stress-free life, the sun, plenty of time for leisurely runs, enough sleep and simply waking up by the sound of birds instead of your alarm.. but according to my best friend Mr. Garmin stats are through the roof.
Reason the more to keep doing what we’ve been doing so far and enjoy the good life for a bit longer. Runs are roasts and challenging in 35 degrees, but for whatever reason it has lowered my RHR to 42 so it seems to be doing some good to the body!
Next chapter of this story is exploring the local running scene! Speak soon 🙂
